Clinton Hill Cityscapes

During the pandemic, many young Brooklyn-dwelling homeowners turned to us to create backyard sanctuaries full of lush and dense plantings, the challenge being the lack of actual backyard! We created tough micro-gardens in small patches of well-worn Earth and a variety of container gardens in custom Hemlock planters -- from beach inspired ornamental gardens to kitchen vegetable gardens to full blown rooftop pollinator "meadows." Rooftop planting calls for hardy natives that can take hotter microclimates as well as whipping winds. A blend of plants from Boxwoods, to Holly's, native and ornamental grasses, hydrangeas and Japanese maples were all larger structure plants up to the task. Using the right drainage mediums and container soil blends, beautiful perennial gardens emerged splashing color and life in the most unlikely of places.
